I've edited this based on several very well though out critiques I received! I've tried to make it more full and add detail. Synopsis: Following the death of her mother, Katherine Kilpatrick is sent to live with her uncle. Her world quickly spirals out of control as she finds herself the legal ward of a strange gypsy who calls himself her uncle's son. Katherine, raised as a proper lady, must learn to fight for survival, and the arrival World War One soon comes thundering down with frightening consequences.
Forgive me, y'all. It's midnight. I've been working on this for four hours. I'm a better human being, I swear.
Stupid, stupid, stupid cover image. But at least this one is 100% original
This is all very informal here, peoples
Frankly, I need to get my lazy bum back to working on this thing. It's had a serious revamp since I had it up several months ago. Frankly I could use a bit of feedback--currently only two other people have read it.
So CRITIQUE AWAY! Give me everything you got--I can take it!
I know it moves very fast. I want to know what you think about the pacing, though, before I fill in a bunch of fluffy details and unnecessary dialogue. I have a morbid fear of making my chapters too long and drawn out. But my goal for this book is to have shorter chapters and just have more of them. Good idea, bad idea...?
ALSO ALSO ALSO!!! There has been a title change
. I know what you're all thinking. All of my most loyal Watchers are staring in horror, for I have chosen a title without telling a soul what it was going to be. Formerly, THIS STORY WAS TITLED 'PAINTER OF LIGHT'. But...well, that was just stupid
. It had nothing to do with light and even less to do with painters. I had several potential titles, including, 'Defective', 'Above All Things', and 'Wandering Heart' (suggested to me by the lovely
), but somehow I liked the way "A Wager of Innocence" looked when written with my quill pen, and how it sounded when I said it in six different accents. My methods for decision making are perfect, shattap.
IS THIS A STUPID DECISION? I CAN STILL CHANGE IT. SPEAK TO ME, MY LOVELIES.
(This may be the longest description I've ever written...)
Anyway! So, if you guys have a bit of spare time and want to give Wager of Innocence (formerly Painter of Light) a try, do let me know what you think!! I'm utterly obsessed with making this perfect, and, frankly, it won't be perfect if I hoard it to myself and receive no creative comments from fellow artists/writers.
Okay...Imma go to sleep now
